If you’re a parent, you probably spend a lot of time these days trying to get your kids to put down their devices and go outside. And even when you do manage to get them interested in the backyard, the chorus of “I’m bored!” and “What can we even do out here?” is probably a familiar sound. To be fair to the kids, if your yard is bare and boring, they might truly have a hard time finding something to do! There’s no better gift to give your children than their own space to run around freely and enjoy imaginative play. And the best space for that is their very own backyard playset!

Here at Progressive Fence & Railing, we strive to build the kinds of backyard playground sets that your children cherish for years to come. We can work with existing designs or create custom-made backyard swing sets and playsets tailored to your children’s ages, needs, and interests. And with our affordable financing options, it’s never been easier to find a payment plan that works for you.

We install backyard playground sets throughout South Jersey, including:

  • Cape May County
  • Atlantic County
  • Lower Ocean County

What Materials Are Backyard Playground Sets Made Of?

Wood, metal, plastic, and vinyl are just a few of the materials we can use to create backyard swing sets and playsets. However, our backyard playsets are not always made of one specific material. Rather, we work with you to decide on the kinds of materials you’d like us to utilize. Our New Jersey team can also offer suggestions about material sturdiness, weight limits, durability, weatherproofing, and more. If you have questions about what might be the best choice for your yard and for your children, reach out to us anytime.

How Do I Prepare My Backyard for a Playground?

Getting ready to surprise the kids with their very own backyard playset? We’re excited for you — and them! Use these tips to prepare your yard for your new addition:

  • Choose a level location for the playset that is far away from low-hanging tree limbs, utility lines, and other dangling hazards.
  • Plan to place the playset at least 6 feet away from any other backyard fixtures including fencing or sheds.
  • Be sure that no sharp rocks or glass will be underfoot — be extra careful to ensure this if your playset includes swings.
  • Check for, and fill, any holes in the ground.

How Long Do Backyard Playgrounds Last?

A well-made backyard playset can easily last 15-20 years with regular maintenance and upkeep. Good playground maintenance involves clearing away debris, regularly checking and tightening screws and bolts as needed, and testing the strength of platforms, swings, and other high-stress areas.
